Privacy notice

This notice covers this website. DataBridge itself runs on its customers' own computers, and each customer controls the data it holds there.

It is written for people in Singapore under the Personal Data Protection Act 2012, and it applies to everyone who uses this site.

Who we are

This website is run by Walnut, the maker of DataBridge.

Data protection contact

The person who reads outreach@walnut.sg is Walnut's data protection contact. Write to that address with any question about personal data, and with any request described on this page.

What we collect

When you use the contact form, we collect your name, your work email address, your organisation if you give it, the option you choose to say what your message is about, the message you write, and the fact that you ticked the box to agree to us replying.

When you write to us by email, we collect your email address and what you put in the message.

To show you the pages, our host handles the network address your request comes from. It does so for every visitor, whether or not you use the form.

To limit abuse, the contact form turns your network address into a salted hash that changes every day. The hash is kept only as a counter until its hour or day ends. It is never logged, and it is never joined to your name or your message.

Your browser may also send this site a security report if something on a page breaks the site's security rules. A report says which page, which rule and what was blocked, and can also name your browser and the web address you came from. To limit abuse, the program that receives these reports turns your network address into the same daily salted hash, kept only as a counter until its hour or day ends. We count the reports we accept, then discard every report, so none is stored or logged.

We do not ask for payment details, identity numbers or sensitive personal data through this site.

Why we use it

We use what you send to read your message and reply to you, and to arrange a pilot or a review if you ask for one.

We ask for your consent to this use when you tick the box on the form. You agree to us using what you send for that purpose and for no other.

If you write to us by email, we take it that you agree to us using your message to reply to you.

We do not use what you send for marketing, we do not sell it, and we do not use it to train any model.

You can withdraw your consent at any time by writing to outreach@walnut.sg. We then stop using what you sent and delete it, unless the law requires us to keep it. Withdrawing does not undo what we did before you withdrew.

Who receives it

Our website host is Cloudflare. It serves this site, runs the program behind the contact form, and routes the form's email.

Your message then arrives at the mailbox for outreach@walnut.sg, which is held with an email provider that stores and delivers our mail. Both suppliers are listed on the sub-processors page.

Only people at Walnut read your message. We do not pass it to anyone else, unless the law requires it or you ask us to.

Transfers

Cloudflare runs its network in many countries, so your request and your message can be handled outside Singapore. The email provider that holds our mailbox can also keep it outside Singapore.

Before personal data leaves Singapore, we make sure that the supplier receiving it is bound by written terms to protect it to a standard comparable to the Personal Data Protection Act 2012. We rely on each supplier's data processing terms for this.

How long we keep it

We keep your message and your details for 24 months after our last exchange with you. We then delete them.

If you become a customer, we keep the details we need for that relationship for as long as it lasts, and the law can require us to keep some for longer.

The counter made from your network address is removed when its hour or day ends.

How we protect what you send

Every page of this site and the contact form use HTTPS.

Your message arrives as one email in the mailbox for outreach@walnut.sg, and we keep it there for the time set out under How long we keep it.

The contact form asks your browser to solve a small computing puzzle, limits how many messages one network address can send, and sends your message as plain text.

This site writes your message to no log and no database. Access to the mailbox is limited to people at Walnut.

If something goes wrong

If we find that personal data we hold has been accessed, copied, changed or lost without permission, we look into it at once and act to contain it.

We assess a suspected breach within 30 days. If it must be reported, we tell the Personal Data Protection Commission within 3 calendar days of that decision. Where it is likely to cause you significant harm, we also tell you, as soon as we can.

If you think your data has been exposed, write to outreach@walnut.sg.

No profiling, and no automated decisions

We do not profile you, and we make no decision about you by automated means, from what you send or from your visit.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, and for details of how we have used or shared it in the past year.

You can ask us to correct anything we hold that is wrong. We correct it, and we pass the correction to the organisations that received the data from us in the past year, unless they do not need it.

You can withdraw your consent, as described under Why we use it.

You can ask us to delete what we hold about you. We do so unless the law requires us to keep it.

To make a request, write to outreach@walnut.sg from the address you used. We may ask you to confirm who you are. We reply within 30 days, and if we need longer we tell you why and how long.

Complaints

Tell us first, so that we can put it right.

If we have not settled it, you can complain to the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) of Singapore.

Storage on your device

There is no cookie banner on this site because there is nothing to consent to: it sets no cookies, and it stores nothing on your device until you make a choice in the Legend.

This site stores nothing on your device until you change Motion, the theme or Solid surfaces in the Legend. It then remembers each choice you make in your browser only, so the next page opens the way you left it.

It sets no cookies.

It runs no analytics script, and it loads nothing from any other website.

Our host, Cloudflare, counts the requests made to this site on its own network, without adding a script or a cookie.

To remove a stored choice, clear this site's data in your browser.

Children

This website is written for people choosing software for their work, and it is not meant for children.

We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you think a child has sent us a message, write to outreach@walnut.sg and we delete it.

Changes to this notice

When this notice changes, we publish the changed notice on this page.

If a change affects how we use what you have already sent us, we ask for your consent again before it applies to you.
